Indian weddings are very colorful and attractive due to all the rituals which bride and groom perform to marry each other. The indian media has played a vital role in glamorizing indian wedding ceremonies. Specially the t.v channels which telecast beautifully dramatised soaps on screens. That’s why people watch these plays and movies with great interest whether they belong to Pakistan or any other country of the world. On the wedding day special preparations are made by both the parties. Houses are well lit and decorated with marigold flowers. Special dishes are cooked for the wedding guests. Even a middle class family arranges 3 to 4 dishes in wedding menu. Girls use ubtan to make themselves beautiful which is specially prepared by the old ladies of the family. They start the use of ubtan many days before the wedding day. Ubtan makes their skin fair, cleanse their skin and removes unwanted hair of body. Indian girls make beautiful designs of mehndi on their feet and hands. Indian mehndi is in vogue due to its beautiful designs. Sangeet night is celebrated before wedding night in which old as well as young couples dance and sing along the future couple. On wedding day girls wear either Indian saree or lehnga beautifully designed with jewel work on it. Bride and groom take seven rounds in front of holy fire and make seven promises to take care of each other. This ritual is called “saat phere”. All the wedding guests throw petals on the couple. Then the groom put a string of beads around bride’s neck which they call “mangal sootr”. This string is considered very important for bride to make their relationship strong. Only the married indian girls wear it. In last groom apply red lead in the hair of bride which they call “sendor”. Thus the wedding ceremony is completed. Both the bride and groom take “asherwad” of elders from both sides to live a happy life in future.
